Mel Bay Produces Kim Robertson's "Treasures of the Celtic Harp"
as a Music Video and Songbook
el Bay has completed filming
a video featuring Kim Robertson's performance of music from her solo Celtic
harp collection "Treasures
of the Celtic Harp." The video was filmed in studios in St.
Louis, Missouri, during the week of January 11, 1998 as part of Mel Bay's
recently launched Artist Series on video. This video includes all
twelve of the harp instrumentals from "Treasures" and will
coincide with the release of the songbook on the Mel
Bay imprimatur later this year.
Kim Robertson began her recording career with the solo Celtic harp release "Wind Shadows,"(1982) followed by "Moon Rise" (1984) and "Water Spirit"(1984). Over the years since then, she has included guest performances and ensemble arrangements as part of her musical explorations, placing the unique voice of her Celtic harp in the company of another instrument like cello or flute, or embedded in contemporary chamber or Celtic music ensembles which have included cello, violin, flute, percussion and vocals. "Treasures of the Celtic Harp," her first recording for the Los Angeles-based company Dargason Music, marked a return to the solo Celtic harp format, displaying her incomparable performance style and her genius for arrangement and original composition.
An exact release date for the video and songbook is not available at the time of this writing, but they should be available by Spring or Summer of this year.

Robertson will be featured on the National Public Radio program Thistle
and Shamrock on December 11, 1997. Fiona

century has seen the renaissance of an ancient instrument. We celebrate
this with music of the small harp from Scotland, Ireland, Brittany, Wales
and the United States. American harper Kim Robertson joins us in conversation."

It is produced in Scotland and distributed throughout the United States by National Public Radio, and internationally by NPR Worldwide and America One.
