Congratulations to Lisa Lynne Franco ...
Lisa Lynne Franco is a Celtic
harpist and multi-instrumentalist whose new recording with Windham Hill
Records "Daughters of the Celtic Moon" will be released
this month. Lisa is a friend of Kim's of many years and we're excited for
her new recording on a label which has always presented some of the very
best contemporary music.
Please visit her web-site at http://www.gezi.com/c_winds/cs.html for more information.
"Anamchara" ...
On "Wood, Fire and Gold," Kim's most
recent recording for Dargason Music, she has a beautiful, original
composition entitled "Anamchara" which is a Gaelic word
for "friend of the soul." The title was partly inspired by the
book "Anam Cara: A Book of Celtic Wisdom" by Irish author
John O'Donohue which was one of the books Kim's father ... a sensitive and
philosophical man who dearly loved spiritual ideas and principles ... was
reading prior to his passing away in September 1996. I am writing a review
of it for Eldalamberon and will publish it in a day or two at http://www.eldalamberon.com/books-anamcara.html
The author is expansive in his thinking and has, for my
ear, a perfect way of expressing the Celtic heart's unique perspective on
life. (Photo of John O'Donohue at right ©1997 by Gerry O'Gorman)
He has also written the loveliest liner notes for our friend singer
and harper Aine Minogue's recording "Mysts of Time"
and also for the compilation "Celtic Spirit" which features
many singers, choirs, and harpers including Billy Jackson. I am looking
forward to getting to know him personally through our correspondence and
am very pleased to introduce his writing to you if you are not already acquainted
with his literature. It's very uplifting reading and will help keep the
colors of life bright around us ...
with a grace-note or two,
