Some Comments from Students
These comments have been transcribed as accurately as possible from
students’ written comments.
1. Thanks a lot for coming in. You know what? This is going to sound
funny ... but you’re so normal. I think that you really have help
change my ideas.
2. Thank you for being so honest and direct. I really appreciate this.
You have both set an example to me of standing up for what you believe
in. Also, I now have a different viewpoint, although not a drastically
changed one, of homosexuals.
3. I would like to valadate you for being such open people. I respect
the fact that you stick up for you. I hope you always continue to do so.
4. Love is a special thing ... I don’t think it matters who you share
it with ... as long as you share it.
5. I admire your courage to join a gay/lesbian group in the community.
I know I probably would be scared to do something like that.
6. I don’t think being gay is bad. You both seem like very nice, caring
people and I admire that you can come out and talk about it.
7. I think it is great that you both stand up for how you feel &
your opinions. I dont personally agree at all with it but I have no
prejudice with it.
8. I appreciate you all comming to our class and speaking to us. I
think it is very brave of you two. Thank you.
9. I think it is great that you are able to express who you really are.
10. I’m impressed with your openess + it was really great to hear about
your lifes. Keep cool
11. You guys were very honest & open ... that must be hard. We
appreciate you talking to us.
12. Thanks for coming, I really enjoyed it. I hope we weren’t too
horible severe.
13. I admire that you are able to come out in the open and discuss you
gay/lesbian lives. Thanks for sharing your views.
14. I respect the fact that you’ve come to our class today. Thanxs.
15. You are both very nice and seem happy with what you are doing and
how you are living today! I am happy for you and appreciate the fact
that you are willing to try and educate people on an issue many people
shy away from.
16. I respect and applaud you both for what you are doing. I think it
is really great. You both seem like really neat people.
17. I think its really great how your both so strong and open – you
both seem to be really happy with yourselvs. I reelly admire that in
peple no matter what theyre into.
18. One thing that might prove useful in these discussions would be
more data eg. statistics mainly because that’s how our society thinks.
19. Enjoyed it very much, they were open and were able to answer my
questions.
20. I was very impressed with how open and articulate they both were. I
enjoyed the presentation very much.
21. Though AIDS isn’t a Gay/Lesbian issue ... a little more info
would be great in this program. Take the opportunities as
they come.
22. I felt a few people in the audience were very immiture and asked
stupid questions and I felt embarassed for them.
23. Just say no faget
24. Gays and Lez’s shouldn’t be allowed to have kids. Thats gnarley dude
25. They want to show that the’re normal people trying to cover their
disgrace to society.
26. You guys and girls are a bunch of faggits. I’m watching you and if
you hurt anyone (through AIDS) you’re responsible and I’ll hold you
responsible _ DEATH
27. On tolerancy, I’ve always been very tolerant of lesbians, but the
thought of male homosexuality I still find repulsive.
28. I think that it was good that you didn’t have two extremely
flamboient speakers like the stereotype tends to reflect. The woman
however was what I would call a “obvious Dyke.” They avoided some
personal sexual questions also. I think that if you want to be treated
like normal people then you have to try not to stand out.
29. I liked the openess and the ease at which you presented the
subject. Well done.
30. I think it wonderful to better educate the public. People need to
be more open minded on homosexualty.
31. It is my opinion that both speakers were very open, honest and
articulate inidividuals. My understanding and tolerance of the “Gay”
community has been greatly improved. Thank you.
32. Best wishes for a healthy life. Also happy.
33. I’m very glad to see a program such as this educating and
sensitizing the general public to the gay community – it’s needed.
34. I enjoyed this program so much! I respected their views and their
openness. Thank you!
35. I don’t think you need to pass out information on how to get
envolved w/gay or lesbian groups.
36. I never expected a homosexual to be so goodlooking an talk w/a deep
voice. He didn’t “parade” around like I saw other homosexuals doing. He
shattered to big stereotype of gays.
37. Bravo! They did a wonderful job.
38. Warped is the mind of homosexuals.
39. It helped me in general to hear a gays-Lesbians comments – But I
won’t turn to it.
40. I think you two were great! It takes a lot of guts to talk to
people about your personal life. I hope you can get through to the rest
of these (excuse me) Assholes that dont accept people for who they are.
41. This should stay the HELL out of the classroom.
42. It was interesting to see how people were so hooked on the
stereotypical gay or lesbians. There is nothing different about them
except their sexual preference.
43. I fell the gay community crawls on me.
44. I thought it was great that they were so open. They showed courage
to get up before a class and thell them about their sexual preference.
45. Personal, I think homosexuality is sick.
46. I learned to respect homosexuals or except homosexuals the way they
are even though I would not be that way.
47. I wish that people wouild not treat people like what they do.
48. I thought the program helped people who are not pro-homosexual
understand that they are still regular people inside.
